Professional Assistance

At Elite Services Center, our occupational therapy services are designed to help children with autism develop essential skills for daily living, learning, and social interactions. By addressing sensory needs and promoting independence, we empower children to thrive in all areas of their lives.

What is Occupational Therapy?

Occupational therapy (OT) helps individuals build essential skills in cognitive, physical, social, and motor areas, promoting greater independence in daily life. At Elite Services Center, our occupational therapy services are tailored to support children with autism in achieving their full potential. Through individualized strategies, OT focuses on improving everyday abilities, empowering children to participate more confidently in various activities.

Addressing Sensory and Functional Needs

For children with autism, sensory processing differences can create challenges in learning and daily activities. Our occupational therapists at Elite Services Center are specially trained to assess and address these differences, helping children become calmer, more focused, and better equipped to learn. We also work on functional skills like self-care, emotional regulation, organizational abilities, and social participation, which are vital for success both at home and in school settings.

Promoting Skill Development Across Settings

At Elite Services Center, we recognize the importance of practicing skills beyond therapy sessions. Our therapists collaborate with families and schools to ensure that strategies are implemented in daily routines. For example, children can practice OT goals like handwriting, personal hygiene, and social skills at home or in the classroom. Additionally, our therapists are equipped to address specific challenges, such as feeding and swallowing difficulties, creating tailored plans to overcome these obstacles. Through consistent and targeted interventions, we aim to enhance the quality of life for children with autism and their families.

Incorporating Sensory Circuits in Occupational Therapy

At Elite Services Center, occupational therapists often recommend starting the day with a sensory circuit, a sensory-motor activity program designed to help children reach a “ready to learn” state. These circuits consist of activities that energize or calm children, preparing them for the day ahead and enhancing their ability to focus and engage in learning environments.
Each sensory circuit session includes three key elements:

Alerting Activities: These activities, such as spinning, bouncing on a gym ball, skipping, or star jumps, stimulate the central nervous system, waking up the body and preparing it for learning.
Organizing Activities: Tasks like balancing on a wobble board, log rolling, or juggling require coordination between brain and body, improving focus and motor skills.
Calming Activities: Heavy muscle work and deep pressure activities, such as wall pushes, push-ups, or using weights, help children become more aware of their body in space and promote sensory self-regulation.

These sensory circuits are highly effective in reducing anxiety and helping children feel more regulated and focused. By incorporating these activities into therapy and daily routines, Elite Services Center helps children with autism navigate overwhelming environments with greater ease, creating more opportunities for them to thrive and achieve their goals.
